Rene Francis is the former manager of a quality assurance unit in Ericsson, the large Swedish supplier of communication systems infrastructure for the global market. He was a principal at the Stockholm Challenge Award, a global arena for ICT projects jointly sponsored by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, the Royal Institute of Technology (Kungliga Tekniska högskolan), Ericsson, and the city of Stockholm.
Between 1986 and 2005, Francis did Production Process, Quality Control, Quality Assurance and Lead-Time Reduction at various Ericsson facilities. He was Head of Quality for Ericsson's joint venture to build Ericsson base stations in Wuhan, China. He has also done Corporate Sourcing, Common Supply and Global Distribution for Ericsson. After 2006, he specialized in communications management of complex multi-cultural marketing and communications projects and staffs at international levels. He worked at Ericsson Headquarters doing marketing and communications process implementation for Corporate Communication Operations.
More recently, Francis has become involved in politics in his local community, Åsbro, near Stockholm. He is also active within the Moderate Party, serving briefly as Sweden's interim Minister of Labor.
