Frank Pope has 30 years of experience in structured finance, venture capital, and private equity. He is currently a senior counsel to Business Sustainability Network (San Francisco, CA), a company whose clients have combined revenues of over a trillion dollars. Before BSN, Pope was a founding general partner of Technology Funding Inc. (San Mateo, CA), a $325 million venture capital firm that has financed more than 225 emerging companies, including Thermatrix, Viewlogic, Geoworks, Pyxis, Systemix and Catalina Marketing.
Under Pope, TFI began investing in environmental technologies in 1989, one of the earliest funds to do so. He serves on several advisory boards including subcommittees of the Department of Energy and the Environmental Capital Network. Pope was appointed by Presidents Bush 41 and Clinton to the National Advisory Council on Environmental Policy and Technology.
Pope was also a founder and managing director of GFG China Holdings, a private equity firm introducing projects to China. He has been on the founding team and boards of several entrepreneurial companies. In 1984, Technology Funding under Pope's tutelege backed founder Shawn Buckley's first startup, Cochlea. Pope is a CPA and a member of the California bar.
